Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to questions regarding entry into the Learning Bee afterschool program will vary depending on how and when parents enrolled:

Legacy Families: Legacy Families are those who have been with Learning Bee continuously for the past 4 school years and thus are grant the special privilege of registration between February 1 to 12, 2017.  Those who complete registration during this time are granted guaranteed afterschool program roster spots for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Legacy Families should have no questions regarding their enrollment status so the questions that follow pertain to the following groups of families:

Year Round: Families who purchase Year Round Membership.

Priority Families: Families who enrolled between February 13 and March 31, 2017 along with the purchase of summer camp weeks.

Open Enrollment Families: Families who enroll after March 31, 2017 with or without purchase of summer weeks.

With purchase of individual summer weeks during priority enrollment (between Feb 13 and March 31, 2017), when will my child’s enrollment be confirmed?

Year Round Members: We confirm enrollment status of Year Round Members within one business day of receipt of payment and enrollment information, as long as memberships are available.

Priority Families: Families will be notified of their status on Monday, April 3, 2017.

Open Enrollment Families: Those who register before April 3, 2017 will be notified of their status on April 3, 2017. Those who enroll thereafter will be notified within 2 business days via the parent portal.

How does Learning Bee determine who gets into the Fall Program?

Year Round Members: Guaranteed enrollment into the program, as long as we haven’t sold out of spots for that grade level.

Priority Families: There are no guarantees.  We do a sort at the end of business on March 31, 2017, ranking in order # weeks paid for and date paid, and give out the roster spots available to each grade.

Open Enrollment Families: All remaining spots are given to newly enrolling families on a first come first serve basis.

Please see our Ranking Policy

What if I am put on the wait list?

Year Round Members: not applicable.

Priority Families and Open Enrollment Families: We will send you an email on April 3, 2017 telling you where you are on the waitlist. You may choose to remain on the waitlist where we will call you as soon as a roster spot opens up, or you may choose to ask for a refund. Please note there are cancellation fees. Please See Refund Policy

What if I change my mind, switch jobs, or move?

Please see refund policy.

If one child is confirmed, does the sibling automatically get in as well?

Year Round Members: Siblings will also get placement as long as there is space on both classroom rosters. Please note that siblings of members must still register for a minimum of one summer camp week to qualify for priority enrollment.

Priority Families and Open Enrollment Families: : There is no guarantee of placement for siblings. We do give a higher priority for siblings contingent to availability in the request grade level at the time of registration.

If I sign up for Summer Camp weeks, am I guaranteed Fall enrollment?

Year Round Members: Yes, placement status is confirmed within one business day of receipt of payment.

Priority Families: There are no guarantees when registering with individual summer weeks. It is impossible to predict what kind of registrations come in. Priority is determined based first by the number of weeks of summer enrolled and secondly by the payment timestamp.

Open Enrollment Families: not applicable

Is there a discount for paying the full year’s tuition in one lump sum?

Year Round Members: There is a small discount for purchasing Year Round Membership.  The primary attraction of the Year Round Membership is the Guaranteed Roster spot.  Families should be aware of their child’s upcoming school year schedule before committing to the year round plan.

Priority Families and Open Enrollment Families: Families may pay in lump sum for tuition if they like but no discounts are given.

What if I am traveling all summer?

Year Round Members: This plan is not suitable for families planning to travel all summer because there are summer weeks included for your child, and there are no refunds for weeks not used.

Priority Families: Paid registration for at least one week of summer camp is required for consideration of roster spots during the Priority Enrollment period.

Open Enrollment Families: Those who do not desire summer camp weeks may register beginning April 1, 2017.

What if I don’t know which summer weeks to sign up for?

For all families: Just choose any five weeks for now. You may switch your weeks (pending space availability) once without a fee before 5/31/2017. After that, there will be a $15 fee per request (not per week) for switching weeks.

Suppose I get a roster spot for my kindergartner, and I find out in August that we have a PM kindergartner?

Year Round Members: Full refund of Year Round Membership and Registration Fees minus full price per week of camp that have been used or have elapsed.

Priority and Open Enrollment Families: Full Refund of Registration Fees and the amount paid in July 2017 for first tuition installment. Summer weeks will be refunded per the policy stated when parents registered.

Does Learning Bee offer Summer Camp for Seventh and Eighth Graders?

Learning Bee no longer offers Summer Camp or after school care for 7th and 8th graders.

Does Learning Bee accept Transitional Kindergarteners (students who do not qualify for regular kindergarten in FUSD)?

No, we do not. Due to the fact that we only have a one year program for Kindergarten, a Transitional Kindergartner will not have a chance to advance to First Grade with their friends who are regular Kindergartners.
