Camp Description

Camp Description

Based on parent feedback we have structured our academic classes as follows:

  • Small size groups (max 8:1 student: teacher ratio) to give students plenty of chances to get feedback, which is important for any young student to advance in any subject.
  • Class meets daily. Daily practice = daily improvement.
  • Student evaluation from teachers by request.
  • End of Session Report Card
  • Current Learning Bee Students are placed into appropriate classes based on recommendation of their head teacher.
  • New families may request an assessment to be placed in an upper level class if desired.

Class Description

Class Description

Math 1: Hour long Math class designed around achieving common core grade level standards. Classes will begin with a review of concepts that students have traditionally struggled with during the school year. Classes will then progress and focus on concepts that were unable to be fully explored. Each class will begin with a discussion period where concepts will be reviewed or introduced, followed up with a short independent practice that students will complete during the live Zoom session.

Math 2: Hour long Math class designed to prepare students for their next grade level’s common core grade standards. Classes will focus on the concepts one by one. Each class will begin with a review of the previous concept, followed up by a discussion that further elaborates on the previous concept or introduces a new concept. Each class will end with a short independent practice that students will complete during the live Zoom session.

ELA 1: Hour long Language Arts classes touching upon common core grade level standards students commonly struggle with. Classes will consist of studying how authors use conventions to mold meaning to their sentences, play interactive games, and daily writing practice. There will be an emphasis on grammar, sentence formation, and academic paragraph formation.

ELA 2: Hour long Language Arts classes touching upon common core grade level standards students commonly struggle with. Classes will progress to concepts that may be introduced for the next Fall semester. Courses will include studying how authors use conventions to mold meaning to their sentences, play interactive games, and daily writing practice completed during Zoom classes.

Summer Camp Activity Classes: Week long activities that are held entirely via Zoom or allow campers to work independently. Activities will change weekly and can range from art activities where campers could learn to sculpt or draw cartoons, to learning and experiment with coding, science based challenges, game show inspired trivia, planning their dream road trip, hip-hop dance, and more. Each hour long summer activity will include a Zoom discussion period followed up by a guided or independent activity via Zoom, or a independent activity that campers may complete independently offline. Zoom into Summer Camp and let the thrill begin!
